Welcome to The Music School of The  Performing Arts Institute of Virginia, Blacksburg's premier non-profit community music school dedicated to enriching lives through excellence with world-class professional instruction for all ages and levels of ability.  

 

Our experienced, dedicated, passionate and friendly Artist Faculty work with students in a nurturing environment enabling students to recognize, develop and achieve their goals while fostering a lifelong love and respect for music,

as well as enhancing the cultural development and quality of life in our region.

As a classically trained professional musician and educator, Ms. Easter has extensive experience performing and teaching students of all ages and levels from preschool through university level and beyond.

Some former renowned teachers include Louis Rosenblatt of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Philip MacArther of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.  Her formal training includes West Chester University, graduate work at The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University and study abroad at The Academy International Ferienkurse in Saltzburg, Austria.

Her students include national, state, regional, and local award recipients as well as recipients of scholarships for further music study at conservatories, colleges and universities.

Additional professional activities have included Residencies as Artist Faculty for The Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts, Guest Artist for The International IDRS, The Winston-Salem Symphony Orchestra (NC), The Roanoke Symphony Orchestra (VA),  and The Reading Symphony Orchestra (PA), as well as Guest Artist for numerous universities including Virginia Tech, Liberty University, Roanoke College and Radford University.

Ms. Easter may also be heard on National Public Radio and she continues to be in demand as a teacher for students of all ages.

Of Hungarian descent, Ms. Easter is the daughter of a U.S. Air Force Pilot and a Budapest Opera Singer.  Born and raised in Upstate New York State, Ms. Easter resides in Blacksburg, Virginia.
